Dudley Elementary

Weekly Update 2.15.18

Good Afternoon Dudley Dragon Families-

Being Thursday, here are some important announcements.

Today was the Dudley Elementary Spelling Bee.  It was a great competition.  Once the dictionaries were put away, here are the final results:

  • 3rd Place-- Joaquin Dimayuga from Miss Kassis’ class
  • 2nd Place-- Chant’e Anderson from Mrs. Mathias’ class
  • 1st Place-- Ilona Sushch from Ms. White’s class

School is Closed on Monday, February 19th.

Tomorrow, Friday, February 16th, is the last day to purchase pre-sale yearbooks.  You may purchase a 2017-18 Yearbook for $18.  You may also add a personalized cover for an extra $7.  You may order online or with the envelope that was sent home a few weeks ago.  To guarantee that you will get a yearbook when they are delivered in May, please order now.  If you wait until May to purchase your yearbook, we may be sold out.

On Tuesday, February 13th, Dudley Elementary opened our loving, generous hearts to support a very valuable cause.  We began our “Pennies for Patients” fundraiser which raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Northern California.  This money is used to support research and family/patient support programs.  I thank you in advance for your support.  As of this afternoon, we have collected $206.11.  Our third and sixth grade classes have both collected more than $59.00 so far.  Mrs. Mathias’s class has collected the most, $44.00, so far.  Classes have the opportunity to earn incentives for collecting $100, $200, or $300 in donations.  This fundraiser will end on February 28th.

Next Friday, February 23rd is Dragon Day.  Our theme this month is Opposite Day Show your Dudley Spirit by dressing as oppositely as you can!

In today’s Thursday Folder, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students were invited to participate in the Academic Talent Search program offered by Sacramento State University.  Students who are interested take a qualifying test.  Based on the results of that test, students may participate in a variety of summer programs offered on the Sacramento State University campus.  If you are interested in your child participating, complete the registration form and return it, with the appropriate fee, to school.  Once we know how many students are interested in participating, we will set up the testing date.

Parents, you may still add your opinions to the Safety Plan Parent Survey.  There are only 10 questions and the survey takes less than two minutes.  Your input is valuable and important.

Have a great three day weekend-

Steve Jackson
